Nestled beside the villa, this flourishing garden is a true hidden gem, where guests are invited to stroll barefoot on soft earth, breathe in the scent of basil and oregano, and harvest their own seasonal treasures.
Depending on the season, you’ll find plump tomatoes warm from the sun, crisp cucumbers, juicy zucchini, fragrant mint, fresh peppers, wild arugula, figs, and lemons. Guests are welcome to pick, taste, and create — whether it’s a fresh salad for lunch, herbs for your pasta, or ingredients for a sunset aperitivo.
This garden isn’t just a place to gather food — it’s a place to slow down, savor simplicity, and enjoy the pleasure of cooking with what you’ve just picked. It’s where Mediterranean tradition meets barefoot luxury. 🍅
🥗 Greek Salad (Horiatiki)
Ingredients (serves 4):
• 4 ripe tomatoes, cut into wedges
• 1 cucumber, sliced
• 1 green bell pepper, sliced into rings
• 1 red onion, thinly sliced
• 150 g (5 oz) feta cheese, in a block
• A handful of Kalamata olives
• 2–3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• A pinch of sea salt
Method:
1. Arrange the tomatoes, cucumber, pepper, and onion in a shallow bowl.
2. Place the feta block on top.
3. Scatter the olives around.
4. Drizzle generously with olive oil.
5. Sprinkle with oregano and a little salt.
6. Serve immediately with crusty bread.
🍅 Tomato & Feta with Oregano
Ingredients (serves 2):
• 3 ripe tomatoes, thickly sliced
• 100 g (3.5 oz) feta cheese, crumbled
• 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• Freshly ground black pepper
Method:
1. Layer the tomato slices on a serving plate.
2. Scatter the feta evenly over the tomatoes.
3. Drizzle with olive oil.
4. Sprinkle with oregano and black pepper.
5. Serve as a light starter or side dish.
🥒 Tzatziki
Ingredients (serves 4):
• 200 g (7 oz) Greek yogurt (strained)
• 1 cucumber, grated and drained of excess water
• 1–2 cloves garlic, finely minced
• 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tbsp white wine vinegar or lemon juice
• 1 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped (optional)
• A pinch of sea salt
Method:
1. Mix the yogurt with cucumber, garlic, olive oil, and vinegar/lemon.
2. Stir in the dill (if using).
3. Season with salt to taste.
4. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
🍝 Spaghetti with Tomato & Basil
Ingredients (serves 4):
• 400 g (14 oz) spaghetti
• 500 g (1 lb) ripe tomatoes (or canned)
• 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
• 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
• A handful of fresh basil leaves
• Sea salt & freshly ground pepper
• Grated Parmesan (optional, not traditional but delicious)
Method:
1. Cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente.
2. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a pan and sauté garlic gently until fragrant.
3. Add the tomatoes (chopped or crushed) and simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
4. Season with salt and pepper.
5. Toss the pasta with the sauce and add fresh basil leaves just before serving.
6. Serve immediately, with a drizzle of olive oil on top.
